ME/CFS, Dysautonomia and Long COVIDProfessor Ric Arseneau is a Clinical Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada and a specialist in Internal medicine with expertise in ME/CFS, Fybromyalgia and Long COVID. He was the Physician Lead for the Provincial ECHO Education Program for Long COVID in BC and was formerly the director of Program Planning of the BC Women’s Hospital Complex Chronic Diseases Program in Vancouver.
Dr. Arseneau has a diverse range of interests that include medical education and informatics. He also holds an MBA and an MA in Adult Education. His clinical expertise encompasses chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, related disorders, and eating disorders. He leads the Program Planning and works as a clinician at the Complex Chronic Diseases Program (CCDP), directs the Rapid Access Specialist Clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital, and oversees the Internal Medicine Ambulatory Rotation at the same institution. Additionally, he is a trained and certified group psychotherapist.
Throughout his career, Dr. Arseneau has been honored with several prestigious awards. In 1999, he was the recipient of the Cyril O’ Houle Book Award from the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education for literature that significantly advances adult education. Notably, his book was the second Canadian work to win this award. In 2016, he received the Alonso Award for Excellence in Psychodynamic Group Psychotherapy from the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) for his publication “A Substance Called Food: Long-term Psychodynamic Group Treatment for Compulsive Overeating.”
