A Day in the Life of a Long Hauler

Researchers at Simon Fraser University, in partnership with the Museum of Vancouver (MoV) and the PHSA Post-COVID-19 Interdisciplinary Clinical Care Network (PCICCN) have launched recruitment for “A Day in the Life of a Longhauler: – a photo-based project that aims to highlight the daily realities of those living with Long COVID symptoms.

This project was created in direct response to conversations with patients, caregivers, and healthcare workers, who emphasized the urgent need for greater awareness and education of Long COVID. Through up to six photos and captions, they’re inviting “Longhaulers” from across Canada to share their lived experiences with the public. Their goals with this project are to:

1. Make Long COVID visible;
2. Reduce stigma and shame;
3. Advocate for improved recognition and support.

In April 2024 they launched a pilot of this project, which was featured at their SFU event with journalist Ed Yong, and was a great success! They’re now building on this momentum and preparing for an expanded exhibition at the Museum of Vancouver (MoV) in Fall 2025. They want to ensure a diverse range of voices and experiences are included and have asked LCTA to help them reach as many folks as possible.
