LCTA Marks International Long COVID Awareness Month MARCH 2026
We are now in the third year of recognising International Long COVID Awareness Day. Back in 2023 Angela Laffin along with other advocates, people with Long COVID and caregivers began a campaign to unite people around the World to raise awareness of Long COVID. The official website of the organisation can be found here – https://www.longcovidawareness.life/
March 2026 has been designated International Long COVID Awareness month and there is a particular focus on the Impacts of COVID & Long COVID on the Cardiovascular system with the tagline “Long COVID: Every Heartbeat Counts” and the Hashtag – #Long COVIDHeartbeats.Â
The month of March 2026 will be marked by various activities such as memorials, public demonstrations, educational programming, artistic displays and large-scale illumination displays in the official teal colour.
Key Commemorative Days in March 2026 are as follows:
1st March – Long COVID Awareness Month Begins
1st March-8th March – Long COVID: Every Heartbeat Counts
2nd March – COVID Memorial Day (US national day of rememberance)
2nd March – Light up for Long COVID (in teal)
8th March – COVID-19 Day of Reflection – UK national remembrance day
9th March – Long COVID Kids Day
9th-15th March – International Long COVID week
15th March – International Long COVID Awareness Day
The events in North America have been widely shared, especially on the official website where you can browse the full calendar. There are also indications that activities are taking place across most continents. A few examples are listed below, but it’s worth checking what your own community may be doing to mark the day. And if nothing is planned locally, you might consider organizing something yourselves and sharing it with us on our social media channels
